Due to the rain that has fallen throughout this past week, and with another Friday forecast calling for high chances of rain, track officials were forced to again cancel the racing program for a 2nd week in a row. Track officials have erred on the side of both spectator and driver safety as both roads have been washed out with massive ruts leading up the hill, and all the new clay which was laid down in the off-season is now in the infield. “We really hated having to cancel for two weeks in a row,” stated race director Markus Hankins. “But in the best interest of both spectator and driver safety, we don’t want to risk folks tearing up their personal vehicles trying to get up the hill, and would like to allow our fans and drivers time to make other plans for their Friday evening. As you should know, if you move dirt to dress up the roads and track surface, any rain will wash it away quickly. Today was the first day all week that we could have done anything, but with the forecast calling for rain late tonight and tomorrow, it’s just not possible for us to get the track ready for racing this week.”
“We will be working feverishly this week, weather permitting, to get everything ready for next week, but Mother Nature needs to be on our side in a bad way. We appreciate everyone’s support and patience and hope that everyone understands what we’re up against with this weather.”
